The has led Georgetown’s efforts to promote social justice for 50 years by enrolling a more racially and socioeconomically diverse student body.

Managed by the , the program provides enhanced educational opportunity for a multicultural cohort of first-generation college students who have achieved the dream of higher education through personal initiative, service, and academic excellence.

Job Overview

The Academic Programs Director of the Community Scholar Program (CSP) provides academic leadership for students to enhance their learning and promote academic success and retention at Georgetown University through classroom instruction, curricular design, pedagogy and academic advising.

As well, they provide curricular direction for the writing component of the university’s premier and only academic bridge program for first-generation students and / or students of color;

and collaborate closely with Department of English and Writing program to select and supervise teaching assistants as well as recruit and train faculty to teach in the program.

Work Interactions

Reporting to the CMEA Director, the Academic Programs Director collaborates closely with the Director of CSP.

As well, they regularly consult with the Director of Writing Program, the Director of Graduate Studies, the Director of Undergraduate Studies of the English Department, as well as CNDLS and other related units.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • PhD or other terminal degree - for Composition and Rhetoric, English, or a related field
  • Teaching, research, and programming expertise relating to first-generation students and students of color

Work Mode : Hybrid. Please note that work mode designations are regularly reviewed in order to meet the evolving needs of the University.

Pay Range :

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is :

$47,586.00 - $87,558.13

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
