Job Description : Job Title : Lab Tech II
The successful candidate will apply strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills to developing specialized nonwovens processes and products.
Specific experience working with roll-to-roll web processing, fiber processing and compounding is highly desirable. Strong communication skills and desire to excel in a team-based environment are critical to success.
Detailed job duties include :
- Configuring, operating, and maintaining nonwovens process equipment
- Measuring the properties of and characterizing nonwoven materials
- Detailed record keeping and communication of technical work and results
- Following and developing standard operating procedures
- Maintaining a safe and organized work environment
- Material handling, including lifting pails, moving pallets, and completing other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications :
- High school diploma / GED or higher
- One () year technician experience in a private, public, government or military environment
Additional Qualifications :
- Associate's degree or Two-Year Technical program certificate or higher in mechanical, electrical, materials, electrical, or process engineering or a similar field
- Two () or more years of experience in nonwovens or fiber processing, web processing, or roll-to-roll processing
- Two () or more years of experience in process or product development using S, Six Sigma, SPC or similar methodologies
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability and desire to excel in a highly interdisciplinary, team-oriented work environment
Works with moderate work direction, and can identify issues / problems but may need assistance in resolving. Worker performs chemical, biological, physical, and / or mechanical analyses and tests required for research, development, or quality control of processes and products.
Assists with compiling, analyzing, interpreting, and documenting results. Ability to follow procedures and methods and to work well on a self-directed team is required.
Good mechanical aptitude and skills as well as experience and specific training in inspection procedures and / or the product line are required.
Experience in a lab or technical environment is preferred. Must be computer literate with good communication and time management skills.
