Seeking a Contract Network Security Engineer for our Client located in Irvine, CA
A Network Security Engineer is responsible for conducting security assessments and ensuring the integrity of an organization's network infrastructure.
They must have 5 to 10 years of relevant experience and hold appropriate certifications in network security.
The main responsibilities of a network security engineer include :
Conducting security assessments : They perform thorough assessments of the organization's network infrastructure to identify vulnerabilities, potential risks, and areas of improvement.
This includes analyzing network configurations, assessing security controls, and conducting penetration testing.
- Managing network security devices : They configure and maintain firewalls, intrusion detection systems, virtual private networks (VPNs), and other network security devices to ensure optimal performance and protection.
- Monitoring and responding to security incidents : They continuously monitor the network for any suspicious activities or breaches.
In the event of a security incident, they investigate and respond promptly to minimize the impact and prevent further unauthorized access.
Providing security guidance and support : They collaborate with other IT teams and stakeholders to provide guidance on network security best practices, assist in resolving security-related issues, and support compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
As for certifications, some commonly recognized certifications for network security engineers include :
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
- Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)
- Certified Network Defender (CND)
- Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
- Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
