Job Summary Provide support services in the operation and maintenance of an academic or research laboratory, including performing analyses; setup, operation, maintenance and cleaning of equipment; and maintaining stock of supplies. Specific duties will be determined based on assignment and unit needs. This role interacts regularly with academic and / or research faculty, staff and students. The position may advise lab users and has no supervisory responsibilities.
Projects LuminAI : This is the original version with a five-module pipeline and one-panel design that allows open improvisation with Vai (the agent). Specific work : implement the Body Action Taxonomy within the pipeline.
LuminAIx : An ongoing AI literacy installation with three panels engaging learners in public spaces. Panels focus on 1) AI knowledge representation; 2) a "dance battle" with the improv AI dancer; 3) how AI and machine learning work. You will implement panels one and three.
LuminAI at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport : Update the current version for display at the Atlanta airport for six months. Tasks include designing a LuminAI Lite version for eight+ hours of operation daily and collecting data on the installation, with potential sensor integration (femtobolts).
LuminAI Duet : A new project to create two installations (potentially in Atlanta and in France or Istanbul) where local users train the AI on local dance moves, sharing data across countries for cross-cultural interaction. Potential for publication and festival submissions.
Responsibilities Job Duty 1 : Setup, operate and maintain instruments and other equipment used in performing lab tests and experiments.
Job Duty 2 : Order supplies and materials as required; maintain records.
Job Duty 3 : Setup laboratory media / equipment for demonstrations.
Job Duty 4 : May clean instruments, glassware and other lab equipment.
Job Duty 5 : Prepare and process laboratory samples for use in assigned tests.
Job Duty 6 : Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications Educational Requirements : High school diploma, GED Certificate or Vocational School Diploma
Other Required Qualifications : Ability to work outside of typical business hours as needed, potentially including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Required Experience : Up to two years of job-related experience
Preferred Qualifications Unity software experience
Salary We are looking for a candidate who can commit to 20 hours of work per week for $30 / hr.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Skills : This job requires working knowledge in the use of instrumentation and other lab equipment, laboratory processes and procedures specific to the assigned lab. Skills in inventory management and the use of specialized computer applications are required.

Note : The LuminAI project has been developed over a decade with NSF support and involves collaboration with the KSU School of Dance. The project explores human-computer co-creative practice and has educational outreach and mentorship components. Weekly coordination with the team is expected for deadlines and changes.
