Position Summary :
The Instrument Product Manager will be product ambassador and business owner of imaging instruments for Vizgen’s product portfolio.
This role will be responsible for the entire scope of the product’s success, from concept and development, to launch and commercialization, to operational excellence and profitability.
Instrument capability and functionality will be driven through close collaboration with internal stakeholders, market experience and feedback from customers and prospects.
This role provides an opportunity to demonstrate a unique blend of business and technical skills and contribute to Vizgen’s bigger strategic vision.
Key Responsibilities :
- Develop effective sales tools and product roadmaps for global market execution
- Devise and implement tactical activities to expand market adoption of product line
- Become the product go-to person for sales, R&D, operation, finance, legal, and other functions as it relates to your product area
- Conduct voice of customer and market research surveys using findings to drive product development and roadmap over a 3-year strategic plan
- Specify market user requirements for current and future products by conducting market research supported by on-going visits to customers and non-customers
- Serve as the product champion, ensuring product performance meets expectations and explore ways for continuous improvement and market adoption
- Complete product management documentation and operational tasks required to fulfill the product development process (PDP)
- Participate within a multidisciplinary team supporting new product development
- Collaborate with other product managers to develop, articulate and validate crisp and compelling value propositions to attract market attention that motivate researcher decisions
- Provide and manage revenue and unit forecasts based on commercial inputs
- Work closely with Sales and Operations to monitor instrument fulfillment and allocation
- Assume ownership of product issues and drive improvements from within the organization as needed
- Provide competitive analysis and establish product positioning and pricing strategy
- Support global training of sales teams and distributors on product and competitive updates
- Work closely with Marketing to develop event, trade show and advertisement focus and messaging
Preferred Qualifications :
- B.S. or advanced degree in business or science
- Deep market knowledge in one or more of the following instrument areas : fluorescent microscopy, tissue imaging, NGS; spatial genomics
- Minimum of 5-7 years of industry experience in product management, marketing, capital equipment sales, R&D or a related function in Life Sciences
- Collaborates easily with other team members to drive joint success
- Must be able to accomplish results in a cross-functional team environment, exhibiting formal and informal leadership skills
- Highly motivated and results orientated
- Proven track record of results either contributing to or directly developing, driving and maintaining high performing product lines, cutting edge strategies and strong market presence
- Innovative problem solver that makes well thought out business recommendations using supporting data to back ideas
- Ability to work and adapt to rapidly changing environments
- Ability to prioritize & manage multiple projects at the same time
- Excellent verbal communication, presentation, and writing skills
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 20%
