Job Summary :
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team. The Staff Accountant will play a crucial role in managing financial activities, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and supporting the overall financial health of UCC.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles, excellent organizational skills, and a commitment to our mission.
Key Responsibilities :
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and reports.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Perform account reconciliations and ensure the accuracy of the general ledger.
- Process accounts payable and receivable transactions.
- Assist in the preparation and monitoring of budgets.
- Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and policies.
- Support the annual audit process and work with external auditors.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
- Assist in developing and implementing financial controls and procedures.
- Collaborate with other departments to support financial operations and reporting.
- Handle other accounting tasks and projects as assigned.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or working towards certification.
- Experience working in a non-profit organization.
- Familiarity with grant accounting and compliance.
