Purpose of Your Position
Under the responsibility of the Director of Education you are responsible to assess the training needs of the staff, plan educational programs to full-fill those needs, validate the competency of staff and serve as a role model for clinical practice.
Position Functions and Responsibilities

Conduct formal and informal needs assessment.
Develop educational programs based upon established format.
Create lesson plans for educational programs.
Conduct in-services, staff development programs and continuing education programs.
Evaluate and report the outcome of educational activities.
Conduct New Hire General Orientation.
Conduct Department of Nursing Orientation.
Record orientation and continuing education programs as per departmental policy.
Provide instruction and remedial education to staff.
Assist in the development of educational calendar.
Design performance checklists.
Perform nursing department clinical competency checks.
Operate audio-visual equipment.
Utilize Microsoft office software in the development of educational materials.
Serve as clinical resource to staff members, residents and families.
Other related duties as may become necessary or as directed by your supervisor, department director, and / or administrator.
Qualifications :
Education Requirements :
RN License
S.N; M.S.N. preferred
CPR and PALS provider

Experience :
Medical-Surgical or Pediatric nurse with a minimum of two (2) years clinical experience. Experience in pediatric and / or adolescent chronic / rehabilitative care preferred
Must be able to design and interpret a needs assessment
Must be able to prepare a lesson plan
Must be able to write behavioral objectives
Must be able to write test items
Must be able to create and summarize a program assessment
Must be able to present a class or program using any of the following teaching methods :
Lecture / discussion
Workshop
Seminar
Game playing
Role playing
Simulations
Must be able to design self-instructional programs
Must be able to coordinate an educational program
Must be able to design a performance checklist
Must be able to document performance problems
Must be to evaluate clinical performance
Must be able to operate, clean and maintain demonstration models
Must be able to maintain records
Must be able to monitor quality assurance activities

Salary Range :
$110,000 / Yr. To $125,000 / Yr.
