What is the Medication Tech / CMA experience?
In this role you will be under the guidance of the Director of Nursing Services and Supervisory Nurse. You will be expected to :
- Administer prescribed medications to residents using approved methods, including various routes such as oral, topical, and inhalant.
- Obtain resident vital signs and report abnormalities, when necessary.
- Utilize the "6 Rights / 3 Checks" protocol.
- Accurately document medication administration in residents' electronic charts and eMAR.
- Calibrate capillary blood glucose (CBG) machines; obtain and document CBG readings.
- Perform and document a narcotic count at the beginning and end of each shift, reporting any discrepancies.
- Ensure timely medication orders and assume leadership duties when needed in the absence of the Charge Nurse.
- Other duties as assigned.
What are the job qualifications?
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Three years preferred experience as a Certified Medication Assistant (CMA)Preferred,Resident Assistant / Caregiver or CNA.
- Experience dispensing medications in Assisted Living, Residential Care Facility, or Long-Term Care setting preferred.
- Maintain current certification in CPR, First Aid, and Food Hnadler's Card
- Able to read, write, and document appropriately.
- Must be detail oriented.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Able to prioritize multi-demands using initiative, good judgment, and a professional attitude.
- Must consent to and pass a criminal background check.
