The FPDS team is looking for a Senior UX Designer with a passion for improving the customer experience and designing for high-visibility programs that will impact experiences used by builders across Amazon.

You will advocate for our customers and evangelize your designs to leaders, stakeholders, and team members. Your most important mission is to ensure that we’re designing experiences that delight and solve problems for Amazonians who rely on our services.

Our team includes UX Research and Design and actively partners with Product and Engineering to identify personas, customer problems, influence priorities, planning work, executing design, ensuring quality, evaluating outcomes, and improving mechanisms.

We are looking for an organized, creative and forward-looking UX Designer to work alongside a Senior UX Researcher from discovery to execution to improve our self-service experiences for builders.

You are responsive, flexible and able to work with a high-degree of independence, ownership and thrive in collaborative work environments, while raising the bar for user experience and accessibility.

Key job responsibilitiesCreate user-centered designs by considering personas, data, customer feedback, user research and technical constraints / opportunities.

Build user flows, wireframes, design mockups, and prototypes to effectively conceptualize new product initiatives.Relentlessly simplify and distill complex processes into intuitive and elegant UI.

Establish and maintain detailed user-interface patterns and specifications working closely with product and engineering to see your design through to deployment.

Communicate complex, interactive design concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization.

Improve design patterns, standards, methods, and processes.Work closely with engineering to effectively incorporate capabilities and constraints of the technology stack.

Apply best design practices to arrive at the right customer outcome.About The TeamBeginning in 2022, we built Foundational People Data Services, a secure, reliable, and fast way to store and consume worker data.

We have helped builders across Amazon invent 7,800+ and growing experiences with our AWS-like, 1P data services which focus on the builder experience.

We obsess over ensuring our data services are as foundational as electricity and water always available, completely reliable, and convenient to use by builders.

  • We’ve launched a secure and scalable people data store and event publishing bus; a people data catalog with federated ownership and compliance;
  • role-based authorization and access controls to protect confidentiality; streamlined privacy reviews, depersonalization, and data subject access / deletion requests (DSARs / DSDRs);

Tier-1 real-time data APIs for people data (PAPI); high-volume data transfer to the Andes data lake; and synthetic worker data to streamline testing.

We have seen rapid growth, with Amazon systems consuming 1 trillion employee records annually through billions of API calls to our 1P data services each week.

We now have 5,000+ builder customer teams across AWS, Alexa, Payroll, Builder Tools, MyHR, A to Z, Clarity, GREF, Workplace Health & Safety, Time and Attendance, and more over 75% of them are outside of People Experience & Technology (PXT).

Our 1P data services offer real-time APIs and updates, powering vital end-user tools like Phone Tool (1,100+ page views per minute and 50M+ per month), Chime (800K+ calls per workday), Slack (350k+ employees and contingent workers using per workday), facilities badge access (95k+ salaried employees currently swipe in / out of their building each work day), LDAP, internal systems access, payroll, and more.

Basic Qualifications8+ years of design experienceHave an available online portfolioExperience with design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign and prototyping in HTML, JavaScript, CSS, AjaxExperience acquiring user data (e.

g., conducting usability studies, performing user research) and creating personas and journey maps.Preferred QualificationsExperience applying scrum to visual or UX design processesExperience with UX design of complex workflowsExperience designing in an agile development environment.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $127,100 / year in our lowest geographic market up to $211,600 / year in our highest geographic market.

Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and / or other benefits.
