A Brief Overview
The Respiratory Extern works within the Respiratory Care Department to deliver limited respiratory care support services under the supervision of an individual holding a Pennsylvania license.
The Respiratory Extern provides supportive care to patients, including surveillance of monitoring equipment; assists respiratory care practitioners in the provision of care to pediatric patients and their families;
and maintains a clean, comfortable, and well-stocked area.
What you will do
- Performs equipment set-up and monitoring under direct supervision of RT / Preceptor.
- Assists in the provision of care to patients and families under the supervision of RT / Preceptor.
- Demonstrates an awareness of research.
Education Qualifications
- High School Diploma / GED Required
- Associate's Degree Current enrollment in Respiratory Therapist program Required
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
- Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing
Licenses and Certifications
Basic Life Support (BLS) - issued through on organization that requires a hands-on instructor lead psychomotor skills verification (ex.
American Heart Association or Red Cross). - upon hire - Required
