Eaton’s ES AMER ESS division is currently seeking a Lead Power Systems Controls Engineer - Microgrid.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $91,500.03 - $134,200.04 a year.

What you’ll do :

The Lead Microgrid Controls Engineer will lead the development, testing, and implementation of Microgrid control solutions consisting of Solar Photovoltaic (PV), Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and Diesel / Natural gas generators for our customers using Automation Controllers, HMI’s, Multi-function Protection Relays, and Data Concentrators from all major OEM’s.

• Create, modify, test, and deploy software for Automation Controllers and Human Machine Interfaces (HMI’s) for Microgrid applications.
• Follow customers specifications and internal specifications for project implementation.
• Select components and create bill of materials.
• Prepare submittal documentation for projects and meet with customers to discuss project requirements and review submittals.
• Provide sketches, mark-ups, and direction to Electrical Designers to develop project drawings.
• Prepare customer submittals, Sequence of Operation (SOO), and test procedures.
• Assist with factory testing and field start-ups as required.
• Be able to troubleshoot systems that are not functioning properly.
• Provide technical support to the proposals team.

Qualifications :

Required (Basic) Qualifications :

Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution with minimum 7 years of experience in power distribution controls applications.

Preferred qualifications :

• PE License.
• Experience with generator / multi-source paralleling controls.
• Experience with power system protection.
• Experience working with DERs (PV, BESS, and Generators).
• Knowledge / Experience with CODESYS Programming.
• Knowledge of Power Monitoring and Control Systems and associated protocols (Modbus, DNP3, IEC-61850).
• Understanding of and experience with Microgrid operations.
