Assistant Project Manager (Construction)
Job Summary :
The Assistant Project Manager (Construction) supports the Project Manager in planning, coordinating, and overseeing construction projects from start to finish.
This role involves ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet the required quality standards.
The Assistant Project Manager collaborates with various stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and subcontractors, to ensure effective communication and project delivery.
Candidates with multifamily or municipal experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities :
- Project Planning and Coordination :
- Assist in the development of project plans, schedules, and budgets.
- Coordinate and manage project activities to ensure adherence to project timelines and budget.
- Prepare and update project documentation, including schedules, budgets, and reports.
- Communication and Stakeholder Management :
- Serve as a liaison between the Project Manager, clients, contractors, and subcontractors.
- Facilitate regular meetings to update stakeholders on project progress and address any issues.
- Ensure clear and effective communication among all project participants.
- Quality Control and Compliance :
- Monitor project activities to ensure compliance with building codes, regulations, and project specifications.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure quality standards are met.
- Address and resolve any issues or discrepancies that arise during construction.
- Budget and Cost Management :
- Assist in tracking project costs and managing the project budget.
- Prepare and review cost estimates and change orders.
- Identify and address any cost overruns or financial risks.
- Risk Management :
- Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Monitor and manage project risks to minimize impact on project timelines and budget.
- Assist in resolving any conflicts or issues that arise during the project.
- Documentation and Reporting :
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including contracts, permits, and inspection reports.
- Prepare regular project status reports for the Project Manager and stakeholders.
- Ensure all project records are organized and accessible.
- Team Collaboration :
- Support the Project Manager in leading and coordinating the project team.
- Foster a collaborative and positive working environment.
- Provide guidance and support to team members as needed.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
- Proven experience in construction project management or a related role.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, building codes, and regulations.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Procore).
- Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Certification in project management (e.g., PMP, CAPM) or construction management (e.g., CCM).
- Experience with LEED or other sustainability certification processes.
- Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modeling) software.
- Experience in multifamily residential or municipal construction projects is highly desirable.
Working Conditions :
- This position may require frequent travel to construction sites.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and environments typical of construction sites.
- May require working outside regular business hours to meet project deadlines.
