Full-Time Instructor - Sociology.

Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for its Full-Time Instructor (Sociology) position in the Arts & Sciences department of the Academic & Student Affairs division.

This position is located on Atlanta Technical College’s main campus, just South of Downtown Atlanta.

Under general supervision of the Dean of Arts and Sciences, the Full-Time Sociology Instructor providesinstructiontostudentsinGeneralEducationSociologycourses.

This is positionrequiresutilizing techniques that facilitate adult learning styles and demonstrates varying techniques.

Duties and responsibilities include, but may not be limited to, the following :

• Demonstrates the use of appropriate teaching techniques.
• Demonstrates the use of appropriate testing and grading procedures including proper maintenance of grade books and any other appropriate record-keeping required.
• Demonstrates the effective use oforalandwrittencommunicationskills.
• DemonstratesknowledgeofcurrentproceduresintheSociologyfield
• Follows approved course syllabus.
• Completes all reports, records and invoices in a timely manner and maintains an accurate inventory ofallassignedproperties.
• Advisesandcounselsstudentsandmaintainsappropriateadvisementrecordsoneachstudent.
• Maintains classrooms and labs in accordance with institutional safety guidelines.
• Attending meetings as required and appropriate.
• Observes and enforces the institution's policies and regulations.
• Assists with student recruitment and job placement.
• Servesoncommittees, as needed.
• Maintainsqualificationsforemploymentinaccordancewithinstitutionalandaccreditationguidelines.
• Maintains qualifications for employment as described by the Technical College System of Georgia Policy Manual.
• Follows rules and regulations as described by the Technical College System of Georgia Policy Manual and other policies and procedures established by the institution; and
• Perform additional duties, as assigned.

• Demonstrate critical thinking, knowledge, judgment, awareness, understanding, memory, and the ability to process information in a clear and effective manner.

• Experience with Microsoft Word and Public Speaking.

Minimum Qualifications :

Minimum Qualifications :

Must possess and demonstrate the following :

• Master’s degree or higher in Sociology from an accredited college or university; OR Master’s degree AND at least eighteen ( 18 ) graduate hours in Sociology from a regionally accredited institution.
• Three ( 3 ) or more years of work experience in the field of education within the past seven ( 7 ) years.
• At least one ( 1 ) year of teaching experience in a secondary or postsecondary education program within the past three ( 3 ) years.

Preferred Qualifications :

Preference may be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess and demonstrate the following :

Master’s degree or higher in Sociology from an accredited college or university with 15 18 graduate hours in Psychology, Organizational Leadership, Organizational Development or Human Resources;

OR Master’s degree AND at least eighteen ( 18 ) graduate hours in Sociology from a regionally accredited institution.

• Five ( 5 ) or more years of work experience in the field of education within the past seven ( 7 ) years.
• Two ( 2 ) or more years of teaching experience in a secondary or postsecondary education program within the past three ( 3 ) years.
• Experience with Blackboard, BANNER, D2L or other LM systems.

May be required to teach at other locations and other locations within the community.
