As Lead Business Analyst, you lead and control complex analysis for the Administrative Services business unit and implement solutions that improve the quality of services delivered.

This position acts as a knowledge resource, business partner and project manager related to internal business and operations analytics, reporting, process and quality reviews and Department programs.

You provide strategic consultation, recommendations, and action plans on multiple intermediate to large departments or Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago (FRBC) projects and act as liaison between team members and functional area management.

This position is considered expert level and performs work of high complexity. You will work independently with minimal supervision.

You will have no direct reports but may assign work, provide direction, or act as a mentor to junior staff.

Your Responsibilities

Perform analysis and projections (financial, performance, operational and statistical) on complex analysis projects including compilation and arrangement of data, computations, result analysis, charts and exhibit creation, report preparation, and data accuracy validation;

identify issues or problems with data and leads recommendations / changes to remedy errors

  • Lead and manage the oversight of a portfolio of interrelated projects, programs or business unit activities that create efficiencies and improve the business operations of the Department
  • Lead and oversee in the identification of trends, performs research, prepare written proposals, and present recommendations to Department staff and management
  • May lead and / or participate in high impact / priority workgroups, ensuring daily operations of core functions are consistent with established policies, procedures and controls
  • Plan, direct and coordinate department / Bank project activities and resources to ensure project goals are completed on time, within budget and with optimum quality;

provides direction, prioritization, and conflict resolution in managing project teams to accomplish project objectives

  • Organize activities to create and administer assigned budgets, monitor, analyze actual spending, and develop projections to authorize financial commitments, project future performance and functions purchasing activities, and interface with vendors
  • Develop, maintain, manipulate and analyze spreadsheets and databases for department, extracting data from other systems as necessary;

develop metrics to track performance plans

  • Create briefing materials and presentations for the Bank and Federal Reserve System management and present to senior leadership as needed
  • Develop internal and external communications for stakeholder groups including use of innovative technologies to reach multiple audiences throughout the Bank
  • Conduct market research, trend, return on investment, cost / benefit, and best practice analysis to develop business cases and recommendations to present to senior leadership;

carry out changes as necessary

  • May lead testing and reporting on internal controls to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, professional standards, and the organizational policies
  • Provide direction, prioritization, and conflict resolution in managing project teams to accomplish project objectives
  • Lead work with senior leaders to establish metrics and targets to be used to analyze and determine organizational performance

Your Background

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 7+ years of direct work experience
  • Experience in project management methodologies, certification a plus
  • Experience in performing specialized business analysis and project assessment
  • Experience gathering and analyzing data, reporting and presenting financial data and coordinating efforts of a project team
  • Experience communicating with internal stakeholders including executives, technical resources, internal communications and public relations
  • Expert independent thinking and decision-making abilities
  • Expert analytical skills and ability to think independently
  • Self-directed and motivated
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new technical applications
  • Possesses and applies strong internet navigation and research skills
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong relationship building skills
