AssociateDean Nursing
Basic Function and Scope of Responsibilities :
TheAssociate Dean reports directly to the Dean of the Nursing Department and isresponsible for the overall development and operation of the educationalprograms in the Nursing Department, personnel management, faculty recruitment,and day-to-day affairs of the Nursing Department.
The Associate Dean coordinates activitieswith the Dean to achieve the education and community service missions of theSchool, as well as overseeing and evaluating the Nursing Department academicprograms.
Principal Responsibilities :
- Providesacademic leadership and oversight for undergraduate and graduate nursingprograms.
- Overseesthe day-to-day operations of the School
- Planswith the faculty and appropriate committees for student admission, progression,retention and advisement activities related to the undergraduate and graduateprograms.
- Assiststhe Dean in the recruitment and selection of nursing faculty and staff
- Advisesand counsels students; mediates problems between students and faculty.
- Takesover responsibilities of the School in Dean’s absence
- Specialprojects as defined by the Dean
Education Requirements :
- Earned doctorate in nursing or doctorate in related field plus amaster's degree in nursing
- Five to eight years related professional experience; demonstratedleadership qualities, administrative and teaching experience
Training, Skills, Knowledge, Experience :
- Prior teaching and administrative experience in a baccalaureate orhigher degree program
- Credentials at the rank ofleast Assistant Professor
- Expertise in writing grant proposals and / or conducting research;
- Excellent skills in leadership, supervision, written and oralcommunication skills.
- Registered Nurse licensed in New York State
