Volt is immediately hiring for a Mechanical Project Engineer in New Berlin, WI .

As a Mechanical Project Engineer , you will be responsible for all mechanical and structural design activities necessary to support the modification and modernization of electric overhead cranes.

In addition, you will :

  • Be responsible for the Product Lines - Legacy EOT and Portal Cranes
  • Interpret order documentation including detailed customer specifications to determine scope of work and project plan
  • Search company archives to find records of legacy equipment; must be proficient in reading legacy equipment mechanical and structural drawings
  • Perform engineering tasks using established procedures
  • Create equipment layouts, undertake all necessary mechanical and structural calculations to confirm designs and generate final mechanical and structural designs
  • Create detail, sub-assembly, assembly, and installation drawings necessary to satisfy the order scope
  • Write detailed work instructions to support field installation
  • Be responsible for project planning, scheduling, design execution, and performance to budget and schedule from inquiry through start-up

This is a full-time, direct-hire opportunity.

The ideal candidate will have :

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Structural Engineering or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with overhead electric cranes or similar industrial equipment
  • A PE license or the ability to obtain licensure is a plus
  • Excellent understanding of machine design and structural engineering practice
  • Familiarity with industry specifications including CMAA and ASME B30
  • Knowledge of welding and machining
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient with SAP, AutoCAD, Solidworks, and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to effectively communicate between frontline sales, customers, application engineers and project management
  • Ability to work at heights up to 100 feet off the ground
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally, up to 5% to meet with customers, commission equipment, and inspect product at various manufacturing locations

Salary : $85,000- $110,000 per year

Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
