Maritime Operations within Mission Technologies - Nuclear & Environmental Services, is looking for a Nuclear Engineer 3 to join the team in Newport News, VA.
Nuclear Engineers are responsible for engineering and technical support for the construction, overhaul, testing and operations of propulsion and reactor plant components.
What You Will Do
This position will be embedded into a direct support role in the Newport News Shipbuilding Radiological Controls Engineering group.
This group is responsible for providing engineering, monitoring, training, radiation health and technical services, and emergency planning support to the lead Newport News Shipbuilding Radiological Control Program to service Navy nuclear aircraft carriers and submarines.

Radiological Controls Engineering consists of three main group : Reactor Servicing; Overhaul Maintenance for Aircraft Carriers;

What You Must Have
Candidate is required to have either : Five (5) years relevant experience with a Bachelors in Nuclear Engineering; Or three (3) years relevant experience with Masters in Nuclear Engineering;
Or zero (0) years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in Nuclear Engineering.
- Candidate must have successfully completed an undergraduate Nuclear Engineering degree from an ABET accredited program.
- Candidate must have knowledge of nuclear and radiation safety principles.
- Candidate must be proficient in the use of desktop or personal computers with associated software (i.e., word processing, graphics, database, spreadsheets, etc.
or other computer products as required by the applicable discipline.
- Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
- Candidate must be a U.S. citizen.
Bonus Points For ...
US Navy or commercial nuclear reactor and / or steam plant operations experience.
Physical Requirements
May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
