SUMMARY

Assists in Lab and in examination and treatment of patients under direction of providers by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Interview patients, measures vital signs, such as temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height, and record information in patients’ charts

Stocks and prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.

Drapes patients with covering and positions instruments and equipment.

Hands instruments and materials to doctor as directed

Cleans and sterilizes instruments.

Inventories and orders medical supplies and materials as assigned

Gives injections or treatments and performs routine laboratory tests.

Assist in Lab

Administer vaccines

Other duties a assigned by provider

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

QUALIFICATIONS

Education :

Certificate from college or technical school as a Medical Assistant

Licensure :

Certification preferred, not required

Experience :

Three to six months experience in pediatric clinic vaccine program is desirable.

Special Training / Skills :

Bilingual Spanish / English

Demonstrated Competencies :

Problem solving; Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully; develops alternative solutions;

works well in group problem solving situations; uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to multitask and prioritize duties.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger; handle or feel;

reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 10 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS

Must be bilingual, English-Spanish speaking.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work will be performed in various settings within the clinic : examination rooms, offices, or patient waiting area. May also include varied community locations, i.

e., outreach sites, community agencies, schools. May involve exposure to contagious diseases. Noise level in work environment usually moderate
