Director of Surgical Services
Position Summary
Leads and facilitates the provision of excellent, safe, evidence-based, and efficient patient and family-centered care throughout the continuum of care within Surgery and Perioperative Services.
Works effectively and collaboratively with other patient care teams and providers at Lake Chelan Health (LCH). Supports and models the vision and mission of LCH.
Duties & Responsibilities
Ensures safe patient care in the perioperative arena by articulating, educating, and managing evidence-based patient safety practices completely and consistently.
Manages the business of perioperative services effectively and efficiently, as evidenced by : Demonstrating proficient clinical skills and knowledge based on evidence and best practices.
Participating in the development of the annual operating budget and capital budget requests, clearly articulating anticipated needs.
Monitoring and analyzing budget performance and productivity, making appropriate course corrections when variances arise.
Understanding and complying with labor laws and human resources philosophies, policies, and procedures.
Demonstrating knowledge of and continuous quality improvement within service areas.
Demonstrating systems thinking and applying the big picture view across the organization.
Demonstrating sound decision-making and problem-solving skills.
Applying use of technology effectively, including optimum use of the electronic medical record.
Demonstrating strategic management skills, including project management, meeting defined timelines, and effective communication and presentation skills.
Leads the caregiver team effectively, as evidenced by : Demonstrating human resource leadership skills, including caregiver recruitment and onboarding, development, coaching and mentoring, performance management (including performance evaluations), and succession planning.
Demonstrating relationship management skills, including effective communication skills, self-awareness, understanding of team dynamics, and conflict management.
Understanding and implementing processes that support individuals in owning their professional practice.

Qualifications
Registered Nurse, currently licensed in the State of Washington.
BSN required or agrees to enroll in an accredited program within one year of hire.
Current Healthcare Provider CPR; Current ACLS and PALS certifications or must obtain within 3 months.
Minimum four years of experience in a peri-operative setting, with a minimum of two years of experience in OR as circulating and / or scrub RN.
CNOR certification required or must obtain within 12 months.
Minimum two years of management or supervisory experience preferred.
Experience in building surgical volumes and / or operating room construction projects highly preferred.
