Job Summary :
Provides shift leadership to non-certified and certified technicians in planning, prioritization, coordination and assignment of sterile processing.
Demonstrates an understanding of policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements and builds continued competency in order to work independently and provide support to other team members for the decontamination, sterilization, and sterile storage activities of the department.

Education and Work Experience :
- High School Education / GED or equivalent : Preferred
- Associate’s / Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education / related experience : Preferred
- Three years' sterile processing experience : Preferred
- One year leadership experience : Preferred
Licenses / Certifications :
- Sterile Processing Technician certification : Required
- Certified Board Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) : Required
Essential Functions :
Acts as a liaison with other hospitals and agencies in obtaining emergent supplies, equipment and rental equipment. Maintains supplies at the appropriate par levels.
Authorized to have unsupervised access to areas where medications are accessible and to handle and transport medications.
- Coordinates work schedules of sterile processing technicians. Oversees training and evaluates competency of all staff.
- Maintains an adequate level of instrumentation necessary for the efficient functioning of customer departments and understands the equipment and chemicals used in reprocessing reusable instruments and equipment.
- Provides preceptor support to other employees and at least two educational programs annually to other team members.
- Actively participates in continuous quality improvement (CQI) process.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
