Job Summary and Qualifications

Labor and delivery nurses are unique among the different types of nurses because they have a very specific job : to help deliver healthy babies and get moms through the process safely.

In essence, they are doing what some might consider the most important nursing job of all - bringing new lives into this world.

• We have the potential to give mom's many choices in the labor and delivery options. You can use hydrotherapy, walking while in labor with telemetry monitors, or have an epidural.

The patient is the key player in decision making.

Responsibilities

• Under the general direction of the Director, Manager or Nurse Manager, Registered Nurse (RN) coordinates and provides patient care and assumes individual responsibility and accountability for the provision of nursing care.
• Registered Nurse (RN) provides nursing care is in accordance with hospital policies and procedures, applicable state Nursing Practice Acts, ANA Standards of Practice and the generic and unit structure standards

What qualifications you will need

• Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Neonate Resuscitate must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
• Registered Nurse
• Registered Nurse Diploma
• Experience preferred in L&D
