Job Summary and Qualifications
Under direct supervision of the pharmacist, this position prepares IV admixtures and fills medication orders for hospital patients, maintains adequate supply of medications in the IV and dispensing areas, handles phone inquiries from nurses or other customers, provides routine and / or stat delivery of IVs or medications, restocks medications to automated Pyxis machines, processes used crash cart medication drawers, anesthesia-related medication orders, processes medication charges and credits, repackages medications into unit dose packages, and assists in inventory control and maintenance in a safe and efficient manner.
What you will do in this role :
- Prepares IV admixtures in accordance with established procedures
- Restocks Pyxis and troubleshoots system as needed
- Accurately dispenses medications upon receipt of labels
- Handle incoming phone inquiries from customers; routes call to appropriate person if not able to resolve issue
- Performs quality audits upon request
- Demonstrates good time management by prioritizing tasks to be done, avoiding non-work distractions
- Delivers IV and medications to patient care areas as scheduled and on request
- Performs check of inventory for expired medications in accordance with established procedures
- Exhibits teamwork by offering assistance to others when own work is done, or asking for assistance when unable to complete assigned work
What qualifications you will need :
- Prefer hospital inpatient experience following completion of a pharmacy technician training program; Sterile Products / IV Admixture Training accredited with ACPE (40 hrs minimum)
- Licensed Pharmacy Technician, or State Registration Pharmacy Technician, or State License Pharmacy Intern
