Employee will work with other techs to ensure they are proficient with equipment and protocols and that they know the layout of the hospital.

Under the direction of the radiologist, performs appropriate diagnostic exams and studies to ensure safe, highqualitypatient care.

Under the direction of the Radiologist and the Arizona Department of Health Services (AZDHS),administers ionizing radiation for the purpose of diagnosis which includes positioning the x-ray beamwith respect to the patient, anatomically positioning the patient, selecting exposure factors, and initiatingexposure.

b. Uses professional judgment to adapt imaging procedures to ensure quality diagnostic outcomes.c. After reviewing all pertinent data and assessing the patient s abilities and condition, selects the mostappropriate patient care plan.

d. Selects appropriate shielding devices and appropriate immobilization devices.e. Evaluates lab values prior to administering contrast media.

f. Assesses factors that may contraindicate the procedure, such as medications or insufficient patientpreparation.g. Reconfirms patient identification using two unique identifiers (Name and DOB) and verifies procedurerequested.

Verifies female patient pregnancy status when appropriate.h. Able to recognize significant clinical information and historical facts, from the patient and from themedical record, which may impact the examination.

i. Monitors patient and equipment during procedures, accurately documents exam times (start and stop),patient reactions or problems, and reports concerns or issues immediately to supervisor.

j. Documents patient and exam occurrences in the appropriate Imaging software database, to include examstart and complete times.

Quality of Carea. The technologist provides evidence-based care so as to prevent the development of a Healthcare AcquiredCondition and hospital readmissions.

b. The technologist practices standard precautions during patient contact and while handling contaminatedmaterials.c. The technologist complies with CDC hand hygiene guidelines and works to reduce hospital acquiredinfections and other conditions.
