Sr. Principal Analog Design Engineer

Skyworks is seeking team members to help innovate market-specific mixed-signal SOCs for audio and voice applications spanning smart speakers and microphones, wired / wireless headsets, virtual assistants, and intelligent gaming controllers.

Job Description

We are a passionate and dedicated team of world-class analog, mixed-signal, and digital design and verification engineers committed to building the next generation of SOCs.

This position is for an experienced and equally passionate analog and mixed-signal engineer / manager interested in excellent personal and professional growth opportunities.

This position can be on-site in Hillsboro, OR, San Jose, CA or Austin, TX

Responsibilities :

  • Bring state of the art IP and products to market.
  • Provide guidance and oversee architecture, design and verification, systems, algorithms, etc. to meet product requirements.
  • Interface with System, Digital, RF, DV, Firmware engineers and module design teams to create the detailed specification, report design progress, and to collect, track, and resolve any performance and circuit design issues.
  • Participate and contribute to roadmap and product definition while balancing innovation with execution to ensure that the projects are delivered in a timely manner.
  • Facilitate and lead detailed technical discussions with different customers to define architectures, drive rapid feasibility studies, and support system studies.

Qualifications :

  • 15+ years (BSEE), 12+ years (MSEE), or 8+ years (PhD) of relevant industry experience.
  • Expertise in developing state-of-the-art Analog and Mixed signal circuits for complex SOC platforms in multiple cutting-edge processes.
  • Proven track record of bringing advanced low noise and ultra-low power IP, technology, and products to market.
  • Advanced knowledge of Delta Sigma ADCs / DACs, Class D / AB headphone and speaker drivers, Amplifiers, PMU and Switching regulators.
  • Advanced knowledge of device physics, CMOS fabrication processes, layout tradeoffs for high performance circuits.
  • Hands on experience with SOC debug, validation, characterization, test techniques and equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of IC design CAD tools such as Spectre, Spice, Matlab, Hsim, Verilog, etc.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment with changing needs and requirements.
  • Ability to be a technical anchor and mentor for team members.
  • Good communication skills, able to break down complex problems, set priorities, report progress, execute to a schedule, and have strong teamwork skills.
  • Proven history of partnering with a strong leadership team to realize a bold product vision and corporate growth opportunities.

Preferred Skills :

  • Audio and digital signal processing.
  • System knowledge for Audio sub-systems.
  • Audio performance concepts (SNR, THD, SINAD, DR, etc.).
  • Familiarity with standard interfaces (SPI, I2S, PDM, PWM, USB, etc.).
  • Laboratory measurement skills for Audio and wireless SOCs (analog, RF-as req.).
  • Knowledge of scripting language (python, shell, skill).
  • Professional, open, and highly self-motivated attitude.

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD $136,800 - $271,500 per year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location.

Skyworks has different base pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S. Benefits include access to healthcare benefits (including a premium-free medical plan option), a 401(k) plan and company match, an employee stock purchase plan, paid time off (including vacation, sick / wellness, parental leave), among others.

Employees are eligible to participate in an incentive plan, and certain roles are also eligible for additional awards, including recognition and stock.
