Overview
LMI is seeking a Cyber Security Engineer to be responsible for protecting Army systems, networks, and data from potential threats.
This role requires a proactive approach to identifying vulnerabilities, implementing security measures, and ensuring compliance with security standards.
This role will be part of team creating the foundational platform which will eventually become the second iteration of the Army Data Platform (ADP).
The Cyber Security Engineer will work with Government Leads, solution architects, data owners, data stewards, process and workflow analysts, and data scientists to meet requirements and develop solutions that meet the most stringent of security standards.
Work location is currently teleworking, eventually hybrid teleworking and client site in Fort Belvoir, VA.

Responsibilities
- Conduct regular security assessments and vulnerability testing.
- Monitor and analyze security alerts from various sources.
- Identify potential threats and mitigate vulnerabilities.
- Design, implement, and manage security tools and technologies (e.g., firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus software).
- Ensure the secure configuration and maintenance of IT infrastructure.
- Develop and maintain incident response plans.
- Respond to and investigate security breaches and incidents.
- Perform forensic analysis and develop post-incident reports.
- Develop, implement, and enforce security policies, standards, and guidelines.
- Conduct security training and awareness programs for employees.
- Ensure compliance with Army standards and regulations
- Assist in security audits and assessments.
- Prepare team for ATO process and help with requisite supporting materials
- Stay updated with the latest cyber security trends and threats.
- Recommend and implement improvements to the security posture of the organization.
Qualifications
Minimum
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cyber Security, or a related field. Work experience can be considered in lieu of a degree.
- 5+ years of proven experience as a Cyber Security Engineer or in a similar role.
- In-depth knowledge of security frameworks and standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001).
- Proficiency in security tools and technologies (e.g., SIEM, IDS / IPS, DLP).
- Strong understanding of network and system security, encryption, and authentication protocols.
- Experience with cloud security solutions and platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Must possess aDOD Secret Security Clearance
Desired
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CEH, CISM) are highly desirable.
- Experience with scripting and automation (e.g., Python, PowerShell).
- Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and tools.
- Strong communicator able to deliver messages effectively, specifically as it relates to translating functional requirements into technical solutions and coordinating across technical and non-technical teams.
- Be self-motivated and self-starting able to execute with minimal guidance, embrace new methods, and learn and apply new concepts.
