Position Title : Business Development Representative

Status : Exempt

Reports To : Senior Manager of Business Development

Overall Responsibility :

The Business Development Representative will work to diversify Bosma's vendor portfolio of manufacturer partners and customers and to recruit, develop, and manage those accounts.

They will accomplish this through researching, developing, and pursuing new business opportunities within Bosma's specific niche markets.

The overall purpose is to contract new businesses for development and growth within Bosma Enterprises' identified lines of business.

The Business Development Representative will also work closely with internal and external stakeholders to move projects to fruition while using independent judgment to ensure the success of those projects.

Job Duties and Responsibilities :

The essential functions of the Business Development Representative consist primarily of, but are not

limited to, the following :

  • Committed to closing new business and growing existing business lines to diversify the organization's lines of business.
  • Identify and develop potential new production opportunities and services for customers to create jobs for people who are blind or visually impaired.
  • Develop customer relationships and communicate frequently with prospects and customers through phone, email, video conferencing, and in-person visits.
  • Build a portfolio of clients from current relationships and actively research and seek out new prospects.
  • Source new customer and business lines, onboard, grow, maintain a list of accounts, identify a customer base and oversee the fruition of new projects.
  • Analyze market conditions to determine marketing strategies and opportunities for new accounts and assist in developing pricing strategies based on the analysis.
  • Resolve service or other customer issues on behalf of the Company to ensure continuity of relationships and create new opportunities for business development.
  • Act as key facilitator and liaison involved in the relationship with the customer.
  • Research, plan, and prioritize new customer leads.
  • Maintain a pipeline of forecasted opportunities and monthly reporting in Salesforce.
  • Complete projects as requested and meet deadlines.
  • Provide timely updates on projects.
  • Prospect new companies, develop relationships, and provide customers with exceptional service.
  • Work with the appropriate Bosma team as needed to evaluate the feasibility of each potential lead against documented department criteria.
  • Monitor progress toward goals identified in the company strategic plan.
  • Develop long-term relationships and communicate frequently with prospects and customers through phone, email, video conferencing, and in-person visits.
  • Lead development efforts gathering sales intelligence and demonstrate the ability to handle objections.
  • Act as a liaison between clients, vendors, shippers, receivers, and key internal stakeholders.
  • Negotiate contractual terms and project terms for new accounts.
  • Prepare practical, compelling, professional proposals, presentations, and reports consistent with Bosma policies and procedures.
  • Follows all of Bosma's policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience :

  • A Bachelor's Degree is strongly preferred, but experience may be considered in place of education.
  • At least two years of experience in Business Development, or an equivalent position, required.
  • Salesforce experience preferred.

  • Possesses the ability to build strong relationships with potential and existing customers through personal contact, email, and other forms of communication.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time as necessary.
  • Desired strengths in researching, identifying opportunities, organizing, planning, prospecting, and evaluating opportunities.
  • Ability to quickly master policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Ability to work effectively in a complex business development environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, including active listening and recognizing and developing targeted production opportunities.
  • Proven ability to identify key decision makers within an organization, including establishing and expanding an effective relationship and maintaining their expectations for expanded production opportunities.
  • Ability to accurately capture prospect needs and preferences and effectively communicate those needs and preferences.
  • Independently manage projects that allow for accuracy and timeliness within budgetary constraints.
  • Superior written and oral presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and excellent Internet research skills.
  • Detail-oriented; able to keep accurate records, databases, and documentation.
  • Ability to meet or exceed tight project deadlines.
  • The ability to work functionally across department lines professionally and respectfully.
