Business Development
This position does extensive research and networking to identify and land new business. The Business Development position acts as the lead for their customer’s projects with the support of account management, project coordinator and design teams.
This position is responsible for generating new sales volume, targeting account development and competitive account penetrations.
Verifiable new business generation in excess of 2.0M annually is expected.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Lead Generation
- Drives to provide added value through an integrated services and product approach, leveraging technology to achieve sales goals and customer satisfaction.
- Networks extensively for leads (business groups, real estate brokers, A&D community, local community organizations, industry organizations IFMA, BOMA, CORENET, etc.
develops relationships with key influencers (A&D principals, real estate brokers, property managers.)
- Researches for leads through business journals, newspapers, industry periodicals and publications, Internet, etc.
- Develops target account list of potential clients, including major corporations, local / state / federal government business, educational entities;
uses deliberate, measurable long-term plan to penetrate these accounts.
Participates in dealership lead generation programs such as telemarketing, directed marketing, open houses, industry events, etc.
follows up diligently on leads provided by the Company.
- Leads the development of creative and innovative solutions to meet clients’ needs in a differentiated manner. Collaborate with Designers to provide solutions for our clients’ needs.
- Steadfastly pushes self and others for results.
Qualification & Transitions
- Qualifies leads into potential customers; does detailed need analysis to understand client’s requirements for furniture products and services.
- Makes persuasive presentations to customers on dealership’s products and services in person, through written / graphic documentation and electronic means.
- Brings other staff into accounts and leads to gain familiarity with client and internal contacts; sets up transition team for process management and completion.
- Professional appearance and exceptional communication skills are both essential.
- Performs other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications :
- Self-motivated with a thirst for learning with the goal of being the subject matter expert in all aspects of Apex product on service offerings.
- Clear understanding of the demands and pressures required to succeed in our industry.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with customers and co-workers.
- Proven time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to leverage through technology to achieve greater efficiency in selling.
Education / Experience :
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education and / or work experience.
- 5-year business to business / new business development sales in the commercial furniture industry preferred.
- Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office applications (including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet / Intranet) and CRM System preferred.
