CDL Highway Maintenance Technician

Job Description

As an employee of DeAngelo Contracting Service (DCS), you will need to have an eye for detail, all while upholding our company’s morals and principles, as well as adhering to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

The perfect applicant is a highly motivated Skilled CDL Laborerthat can perform a variety of tasks related to the day-to-day maintenance, servicing, repair of roadways, and other infrastructure assets.

This person will also be responsible for maintaining contracted assets, such as roadways, medians, signs, lighting, guardrails, fences, bridges, tunnels, vegetation, etc.

per the standards in the contract and as directed by a supervisor.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES :

• Demonstrate a positive safety culture by performing responsibilities in full compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
• Creates safe Maintenance of Traffic; control by setup and removal of traffic control devices including cones, message / arrow boards, temporary signage, etc.

• Maintain and repair highway and other surfaces including potholes, striping, adding, or replacing reflectors, delineators, working with concrete and asphalt.
• Maintains clean appearance of highways and medians through litter and debris removal and disposal (may use litter claw or another device).
• Repairs / maintains functionality of slopes, berms, culverts, drains, etc. through use of shovels and other hand or power tools and equipment.
• Controls vegetation appearance and growth through use of lawn mowing equipment, hand or power trimmers, and chemical sprayers and other methods.
• Maintains the appearance and functionality of signs, guardrails, fence, and lighting through repair and / or replacement using hand or power tools.
• Must be comfortable working from heights in bucket trucks, scaffolding, ladders, and aerial platforms lifts.
• Transport crew and equipment to work sites operating vehicle pickup trucks and specialized motor vehicles and trailers.
• Responsible for the proper management, preventative maintenance, and repair of trucks and equipment.
• Maintain positive working relationships with the customer, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Promote a strong customer service culture among the project team members.
• Required to be available for emergency response rotations as needed for overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Carry out all duties in line with Company policies and procedures as amended from time to time.
• Perform all other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

Education :

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

Experience :

• Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
• Must have a valid CDL, Class B with at least 3 years of clean driving.
• Must have your own reliable transportation.
• Must have at least 2 years of related roadway / highway maintenance or construction, and / or related equipment experience.
• Must be comfortable working alongside the highway or median beside fast-moving traffic.
• Must be available to be on the on-call rotation for emergency response.
• Must be able to travel away from home periodically, as needed.
• This position is labor intensive. Employee may be required to drive, stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel, or crouch for extended periods of time.
• Advanced mot certified preferred.
• First aid and CPR certified preferred.
