THE POSITION

The Department of Human Services, Allegheny County Assistance Office is seeking an Administrative Assistant to join their team of committed professionals.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will offer administrative support to the Executive Director who oversees the Office of Income Maintenance programs in Allegheny County.

Your duties will include answering and screening calls from county offices, providing requested information, and directing callers to the appropriate sources.

You will be responsible for recording and editing minutes from various meetings, maintaining a tracking file for work assignments and staff complaints, and providing reminders to colleagues.

Additionally, you will help compile and review data before final submission, keep files updated and accessible, and seek guidance on policy, procedure, and directive interpretations.

Flexibility is essential as the nature of the work can change rapidly due to external influences, time constraints, or shifting priorities.

Work Schedule and Additional Information :

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8 : 30 AM to 5 : 00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Salary : In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements :

  • Such training as may have been gained through graduation from a four year college or university : or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

  • Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Allegheny County. If no eligible candidates who live within Allegheny County apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
