Description
The Serials Bindery Assistant is an essential part of the library's technical services, responsible for preparing and maintaining serial materials for binding. This role demands high accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently to manage materials from selection to binding. The position supports the preservation and organization of serial collections, ensuring efficient and accurate processing.
Responsibilities
- Pull selected serial titles from library stacks.
- Prepare serial units for shipment to the bindery.
- Generate digital bindery tickets for tracking and processing.
- Create and update bibliographic item records and holding summaries in the Integrated Library System (ILS).
- Conduct quality reviews of pre-bindable units to ensure standards compliance.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support library operations.
- This role is suitable for candidates with experience in library technical services and strong organizational skills, who enjoy detail-oriented work.
Requirements
At least one year of experience in library technical services.Proficiency in using an Integrated Library System, preferably Voyager.Experience working with serials.Ability to analyze and identify serial patterns and records.Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.High school diploma or equivalent.Physical requirements include lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying items up to 25 pounds (occasionally up to 35 pounds), and performing tasks like bending, sitting, and walking for extended periods.Physical Requirements
