Status : Relief / Casual (hourly, non-exempt) - less than 23 hours per week. Relief / Casual employees must offer a minimum of four shifts per month, including one night shift and one weekend shift.

Hours : Day Shift : 7 : 00 AM-7 : 00 PM and Night Shift : 7 : 00 PM-7 : 00 AM. Additional shifts, including day, night, and weekend shifts, may be available. Available shifts are based on departmental needs and are subject to change; a fixed schedule is unavailable for this role.

Location : Hospice House in Bend, Oregon.

Summary / Objective : The Hospice House RN will identify patient / family / caregiver needs and provide nursing and supportive care in accordance with the plan of care, and policies and procedures.

Essential Functions :

• Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
• Apply nursing principles and techniques in the treatment of patients. Provide nursing care, emotional support, and education to the patient / family / caregiver. Maintain strict confidentiality of patient, family and caregiver information.
• Is responsible for the implementation and continued development of the patient care plan and physician's plan of treatment and is responsible for the case management of the patient.
• Supervision of all Certified Nursing Assistants and Volunteers.
• Follow the guidelines for universal precautions when providing patient care and demonstrate proper techniques in application of infection control standards.
• Maintain records of services performed and of apparent condition of patient, using documentation guidelines and standards set forth by the facility.
• Communicate with physicians and others as needed to coordinate and ensure high quality care. Communicate on a regular basis with all staff / volunteers regarding patient status.
• Demonstrate a working knowledge of the dying process and recognizes the importance of and maintains professional boundaries.
• Provide for a safe environment for patients, guests, visitors, and employees and adhere to all policies, procedures, and regulations regarding patient care, conduct, safety, fire, security, and risk management.
• Participate in weeknight and weekend on-call duties as defined by the on-call policy.
• Complies with all applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
• Adheres to the PIC mission and values. Supports the organization.
