Basic Purpose

The Corporate Account Manager position has a primary focus on Consumer and Packaging Solutions with responsibilities in delivering profitable growth across multiple regions by providing solutions to current and prospective customers.

The role is accountable for achieving volume, revenue, and margin growth targets by growing Nexeo’s share with existing and new customers through the sale of product and service offerings.

This role will report to the Regional Sales Director and is expected to provide a mix of strategic and tactical solutions in a business-to-business selling environment.

In the position, the focus will be on acquiring, penetrating, managing, and retaining flexible and rigid packaging customers by building broad and deep relationships.

As a Corporate Account Manager, the person will be performance-driven with a dedication to achieving team goals critical to the success of the overall business.

Description of Primary Responsibilities

  • Single point of contact for flexible packaging customer communications and strategies.
  • Ability to consistently implement large-scale initiatives across multiple locations and facilities.
  • Territory Planning : Understands territory environment, current accounts, prospects, competitors, and suppliers. Build Customer profiles and touch plans including executive and cross functional resources and frequency required to achieve growth and budget targets.
  • Build and further penetrate key accounts to broaden and deepen relationships with critical decision makers to facilitate growth opportunities.
  • Effectively utilizes internal executive resources to deepen relationships at Corporate Accounts.
  • Account Planning & Customer Knowledge : Focuses on and pursues strategic business opportunities with the key customer by coordinating the activities of the involved division and regions.
  • Ownership & Performance Focus : Takes responsibility for and ownership of flexible and rigid packaging corporate accounts.
  • Coordination & Leadership : Builds a network internally across regions, functional groups, and suppliers to support growth.
  • Market Knowledge : Keeps up-to-date and informed on the industry, market, product, and regulatory changes.
  • Technical Knowledge : Identifies technical needs of customers. Ability to communicate and build customer technical relationships to drive growth.
  • Value Proposition : Understands and solution sells entire product offering from Nexeo.
  • Communication : Presents to customers with awareness of customer context
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels of a customer ranging from operators to executive management.
  • Negotiations & Solution Agreement : Has sound judgment and problems solving skills to create win-win solutions.
  • Ability to use sound judgment backed by problem solving skills to create mutually beneficial win-win solutions for the customer and Nexeo.

  • Implementation Management : Acts with urgency to customer demands and needs.
  • Sales Administration : Has command of MS Office and CRM.
  • Pipeline and Quotation Management : Manages pipeline proactively, recognizing customers' stage in the decision cycle.
  • Ability to travel Nationally and internationally at least 50% - 75% in a given work week.

Minimum Requirements (Education, Experience & Skills)

  • Bachelor’s degree; in engineering or chemistry, business, or similar field preferred
  • 10+ years of plastics sales in flexible packaging industry experience is required
  • Travel across the US is required
  • Highly adept at prospecting and customer acquisition
  • Ability to build relationships and resolve customer complaints or concerns
  • Experience working in a team-oriented collaborative environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word Suite, SAP, CRM / ERP systems, and Salesforce preferred
  • Use logic and reasoning to identify alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and written
  • Establish and maintain interpersonal relationships with internal partners and external customers
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
