Job Description :
As a Special Education Teacher (SPED), you will play a crucial role in providing specialized educational support to students with various disabilities, ensuring they receive a tailored and inclusive learning experience.
You will work closely with students, their families, and other educators to create an inclusive classroom environment and facilitate the academic and social growth of your students.
Responsibilities :
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with special needs.
- Adapt and modify the curriculum to meet the unique learning requirements of each student.
- Provide direct instruction, support, and accommodations to students with disabilities.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, parents, and other specialists to create a supportive learning environment.
- Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting instruction as needed.
- Utilize various teaching strategies and resources to cater to diverse learning styles.
- Foster a safe and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect and understanding among all students.
- Employ assistive technology and adaptive materials to enhance learning opportunities.
- Maintain accurate records, documentation, and reports on student performance.
- Attend and actively participate in professional development activities and staff meetings.
Educational Requirements :
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field.
- State teaching certification in Special Education.
- Knowledge of relevant federal and state special education laws and regulations.
- Strong understanding of diverse disabilities, learning disorders, and behavioral challenges.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to the success and well-being of students with special needs.
