About the Opportunity
We are hiring seven Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) for full-time contract roles with a state university medical center.
These positions are located at correctional managed care treatment centers and in-patient clinics in Beeville, TX, Gatesville, TX, Beaumont, TX, and New Boston, TX.
The 90-day assignment offers you the chance to gain experience in diverse clinical settings, with the potential for contract extension or permanent placement based on ongoing business needs.
You will provide essential nursing care in settings such as inpatient, outpatient, ER, wound care, and critical care, focusing on inmate health services.
Locations & Shifts
Locations : Beeville, TX Gatesville, TX Beaumont, TX New Boston, TX
Day Shift : 5 : 45 AM 6 : 15 PM (4 positions available)
Night Shift : 5 : 45 PM 6 : 15 AM (3 positions available)
4 : 3 Rotating Schedule 4 days on, 3 nights off
Position Requirements
Graduation from a Licensed Vocational Nurse Program
Active LVN license / permit to practice in Texas
1+ year of Med / Surg or Long-Term Acute Care (LTAC) experience
Current AHA BLS certification
IV Therapy Certification (required)
Previous experience in inmate care is a plus
Note : Candidates must ensure all UTMB clearance documents are hand-signed before submission.
Key Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive nursing care to inmates, including administering medications, monitoring vital signs, and assisting with physician sick calls
Perform wound care and apply surgical dressings and bandages
Offer emergency first aid and respond to inmates' medical needs
Assist in discharge planning and educate inmates on healthcare practices
Maintain accurate medical records and oversee supply management
Collaborate with physicians and supervisors on patient care plans
