Job Summary :
The Nurse Practitioner’s primary responsibility is to promote and maintain health by providing safe and effective delivery of patient care within the parameters of the Illinois Nurse Practice Act and Anderson Healthcare policies and procedures.
The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) provides diagnostic and therapeutic health care services. As a member of the health care team, the APRN takes medical histories, examines and treats patients, orders and interprets Point of Care laboratory tests and x rays, and makes diagnoses.
The APRN provides patient education and counseling.

Job Responsibilities :
- Assesses patient health by interviewing patients; performing physical examinations; obtaining, updating and studying medical histories, including medication history.
- Orders Point of Care laboratory tests and / or radiology studies and interprets test results.
- Prescribes medications based on cooperative agreement with the supervising physician.
- Analyzes reports and / or findings of tests and physical examinations in order to formulate a plan of care.
- Documents patient care completely, accurately and in a timely manner.
- Performs therapeutic procedures by administering injections and immunizations; suturing; managing wounds and infections.
- Assesses patient learning needs and provides instruction and counseling promoting wellness and health maintenance.
- Provides continuity of care by working with supervising physician to develop and implement care management plans.
- Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
- Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection control policies and protocols.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks;
and participating in professional societies.
- Collaborates with all healthcare professionals including nurses, technicians and patient access staff.
- Completes timely credentialing documentation.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education Requirements and Other Requirements :
Education Level : Master’s Degree in Nursing and a graduate of an accredited Family Nurse Practitioner curriculum.
Certification : National certification as a nurse practitioner by one of the following certifying bodies
as appropriate for the available position :
- American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP)
- American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
- Licensure : Advanced Practice Registered Nurse License through the State of Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulations;
Current State of Illinois Controlled Substance License and current State of Illinois DEA.
Experience Requirements : One year of experience as a nurse practitioner is preferred.
Other Requirements : BCLS, ACLS and PALS
Working Conditions : Exposure Category I : Tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues. All procedures or other job-related tasks that involve an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues, or a potential for spills or splashes of them, are Category I tasks.
Use of appropriate protective measures is required for every employee engaged in Category I tasks.
