Visit us at www.aalismc.com Title : Senior Budget Analyst (Education) Client : Education Sector Location : Arlington, VA Ability to Work : Hybrid Number of Position(s) : 1 Work Schedule : 8 am - 6 pm Work Day : Monday Friday Aalis Management Consulting is seeking a highly experienced Senior Budget Analyst to support the agency in addressing a projected $55+ million budget deficit for FY2026.
The Senior Analyst will provide strategic budget analysis and recommendations to help the agency achieve structural balance in future budgets.
This role requires extensive budget analysis, forecasting, and optimization expertise, focusing on long-term sustainability rather than budget creation.
Key Responsibilities : Conduct a detailed review and analysis of the current FY2025 Adopted Budget and operations. Identify areas of inefficiency and propose strategies to optimize the budget while aligning with the agency's goals and priorities, including the Strategic Plan and agency Board's budget direction.
Provide structural budget recommendations that address the projected FY2026 budget deficit and beyond, ensuring long-term sustainability.
Benchmark against surrounding agency districts (Alexandria City, Falls Church, Fairfax County, Loudoun County, and Prince William County) to ensure that agency practices align with regional norms.
Assess and recommend best practices and emerging trends in budget management, funding generation, and expenditure allocation.
Present findings and recommendations to key stakeholders, including the agency Board, Executive Leadership Team, and relevant departments.
Develop a comprehensive report detailing the current budget and operations, along with actionable recommendations for optimization.
Provide detailed cost analysis and an implementation plan for proposed changes with various phasing options. Required Qualifications : Bachelor's degree in Finance, Public Administration, Economics, or a related field.
For the Senior role, one must have 10+ years of experience in budget analysis, preferably in an education or public sector setting.
Proven experience providing strategic budget recommendations and achieving long-term financial balance. Strong understanding of public sector financial management and budget forecasting.
Expertise in reviewing and analyzing large budgets, focusing on optimization and sustainability. Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
