Description :

This is a 21-bed medical surgical department.

The average census is 15 to 16 patients.

The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 5, but may go to 1 : 6 as needed.

Charge nurses do not take an assignment and assist with admissions and discharges.

Nurse aids are present on the unit with a typical ratio of 1 : 5.

Patient Care Technicians may have 7 to 8 patients at times.

CPAP equipment is used on the unit.

Nurses read their own telemetry strips as telemetry is frequent.

Block scheduling is allowed as available, but not guaranteed.

Weekend work is required as scheduled.

There are no holiday requirements or standby requirements.

Team nursing is encouraged in the department.

Charting will be completed using EpicCare Inpatient EMR.

Meet with HR for initial onboarding.
