job_description.job_card.job_descriptionLead projects including strategic and space planning, consulting, conceptual design, schematic design, design development, construction documentation, and construction oversight. Partner with the Harris Design Studio team on overall design concepts and presentation strategies. Provide design and documentation during the completion and execution of design concepts. Collaborate with estimating and construction groups to provide design information. Support Digital Design and BIM to prepare documents and drawings. Specify systems and equipment. Prepare calculations and selections for the correct sizing of mechanical and plumbing systems. Conduct calculations to analyze energy and water usage for building systems. Facilitate communication between project team, clients, and vendors. Conduct life-cycle cost analyses to compare initial project costs with operating costs. Assist senior Engineers in recommending system performance levels based on customer needs and preferences. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required. 4+ years of knowledge of construction equipment, techniques, drawings, specifications, building materials, and standards applicable to discipline. 4+ years of experience designing a variety of HVAC systems. Experience with designing HVAC systems for buildings of varying sizes and complexities, including : Heating Hot Water Plant and Distribution Steam Distribution Chilled Water Generation and Distribution Space Heating and Cooling Systems (VAV, Chilled beams, Radiant Cooling, Fan Coil Units, Displacement ventilation, etc.) Ventilation Systems Interface with electrical systems and Building Automation Systems and Controls. Experience with drainage, stormwater, domestic water, medical and lab gas, process piping, and natural gas systems. Knowledge of code-compliant plumbing and mechanical system designs. Familiarity with building rating systems such as LEED and Living Building Challenge. Experience with sustainable, low water, and energy-efficient mechanical system designs.
