Job Duties : POSITION SUMMARY :

The Youth Protection and Event Specialist will be responsible for developing and maintaining UW River Falls' youth protection and compliance structure. This position will serve as the centralized point for ensuring all university affiliated youth and non-credit pre-college initiatives meet institutional, state, local, and federal compliance regulations. Working with internal and external partners, this person will ensure policy compliance, coordination, growth, and institutional alignment while protecting and serving minors participating in university sponsored programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Serve as the university's primary contact for youth compliance and non-credit pre-college programming.
  • Support strategic planning and growth of outreach initiatives targeting K-12 populations.
  • Ensure compliance with current institutional, state, local, and federal regulations
  • Develop, maintain and update policies and procedures to reflect legal and regulatory changes.
  • Oversee compliance of background checks, training, and reporting procedures required for program staff and volunteers.
  • Provide onboarding, training, and ongoing support for youth program coordinators and staff.
  • Maintain a centralized hub of resources, templates, and best practices for safe and effective program delivery.
  • Act as the liaison between youth programs and internal offices such as Risk Management, Universities of Wisconsin legal, Title IX, and Campus Police.
  • Maintain communication across departments to streamline registration, marketing, facilities use, and other logistics.
  • Develop, lead and support select youth programs
  • Manage and develop systems for tracking participation and compliance
  • Generate reports to inform leadership and support institutional decision-making
  • Use data to inform program improvements and develop new programming
  • Facilitate campus input regarding youth protection policies.

Key Job Responsibilities :

  • Manages operating policies and procedures to comply with regulations, institutional policies, and pre-college program unit objectives
  • May monitor pre-college program budget
  • Develops, facilitates, and evaluates educational pre-college program content and materials
  • Advises institutional or divisional leadership on pre-college program services and student needs
  • Oversees design, drafting, and scheduling of program specific materials and resources for an educational pre-college program
  • Promotes and maintains internal and external partnerships
  • Required Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Three or more years professional work experience in a compliance related role
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to understand the needs of youth or experience working with youth
  • Experience developing educational outreach programs and / or project management skills
  • Possess strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with software applications, including Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree
  • Experience with enforcing compliance policies and enforcing timely correction of non-compliance
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current trends and best practices in terms of youth protection and safety for youth programming nationwide.
  • Experience in the development and management of self-supporting programs and / or events
