Corporate Cannabis Attorney – New York (NYC or Upstate)

We are seeking an experienced Corporate Cannabis Attorney with 5 to 8 years of practice to join a respected firm with offices in New York City and Upstate New York. This role is ideal for an attorney who is passionate about the cannabis industry and has a strong background in corporate law, commercial transactions, and contracts.

Key Responsibilities

Provide legal counsel to clients in the cannabis sector on corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and business strategy
Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of agreements including licensing, commercial contracts, joint ventures, and vendor arrangements
Advise on compliance with New York cannabis regulations and other applicable state and federal laws
Assist clients with mergers, acquisitions, and other business transactions
Support clients in structuring business operations to ensure regulatory adherence and minimize risk

Qualifications

Juris Doctor (JD) and active admission to the New York Bar

5 to 8 years of legal experience focused on corporate law, commercial transactions, and contracts

Proven experience in the cannabis law sector required

Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills

Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and ability to work in a complex, highly regulated industry

Ability to collaborate with clients and colleagues across multiple practice areas
