- Golang experience
- Load balancing, HTTP proxies, or DNS servers experience
- Anisible, Terraform, Salt, or other configuration management tools
- Leads and participate in medium-to- large scale, complex, cross-functional projects by reviewing project requirements
- Translating requirements into technical solutions
- Writing and developing code; conducting unit testing; communicating status and issues to team members and stakeholders;
collaborating with project team and cross
functional teams
- Troubleshooting open issues and bug-fixes; enhancing design to prevent re-occurrences of defects; ensuring on-time delivery and hand-offs
- Interacting with project manager to provide input on project plan; and providing leadership to the project team.
- Building collaborative relationships for a staff software engineer on ECD thinks about technical problems and writes code and prose to solve them.
The primary output will be tools to make Walmart engineers' lives easier.
- Bringing Passion to adding new feature to our existing proxy
- Partnering in Fix bugs
- Review code written by your teammates and give clear feedback
- Write and design documents for new features you're building
- Collaborate and give feedback on design docs written by the team
- Build features and shepherd them out to production using feature flags
- Build a team environment and work with other engineers in Edge Foundation to understand new products so we can build APIs that control them
- Defining vision and strategies by adding metrics and monitoring to make our applications more reliable
- 7+ years of professional backend experience; you will mostly be working on servers
- 7+ years of professional experience with Go, Java, Python, C#, Rust or another server-side programming language
- Strong written and verbal communication skills. Communicating with engineers is a part of the job.
- Willing to dive into unfamiliar things. Sometimes bugs or features require us to dig into TCP / IP, the DNS spec, Walmart's logging infrastructure, Linux system administration, and more.
- Comfortable working on a fully remote team.
