This position is with the Surety Programs Group (SPG), which supports government and private sector organizations ensuring the security, safety, and reliability of high consequence operations.
SPG’s philosophy is to help our clients understand and mitigate mission risks spanning physical, cyber, and human domains.
SPA has a near term need for a Safety Engineer that will work as part of a cross-functional team responsible for providing customers with analytical and subject matter expertise in system safety, nuclear safety, explosives safety, software safety, human reliability, and hazard analysis.
SPA has an immediate need for a Systems Safety Engineer with DoD / DON weapons safety engineering experience.
Responsibilities
In this role, the Systems Engineer will lead system safety assessments for DoD clients per MIL-STD-882E, provide independent safety evaluations of engineering change requests, provide safety subject matter expertise to safety plans and policy documents, and lead safety working groups and independent review teams.
They will help customers develop Model-Based Safety policy and processes for Digital Engineering efforts. The Engineer will interface with teammates including DoD clients and stakeholders, virtually and in-person.
Candidates that demonstrate high initiative, can develop plans and products where customer requests are open ended, and can work with minimal oversight / guidance from team leads will be the most successful in this role.
In addition, the Systems Engineer will also help train junior employees, work on challenging aspects of larger projects, and make recommendations that influence important client decisions.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s Degree in a Safety or STEM Field and 6 or more years' system safety experience.
- DoD Top Secret Security Clearance (must be a . citizen), or ability to obtain and maintain clearance.
- Technical expertise with methods and tools for DoD Weapons System Safety analyses per MIL-STD-882E, NAVSEA SW020-AH-SAF-010.
- Competent with computers and digital tools like Microsoft Office to include Word, Power Point, Excel, Outlook, and like Model Based Systems Engineering including Cameo Systems Modeler.
- Capable of leading independent and team-based work with strong communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
Desired Qualifications :
- Master’s Degree in a Safety Field.
- Nuclear Weapons Surety Experience.
- Active DoD Top Secret Security Clearance.
