We are currently looking for a full-time Assistant / Associate Dean of Research for the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.
This position assists with maintaining and growing the research program within the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.
This is a faculty position with administrative workload. Responsibilities of the position include : The following duties & responsibilities are in addition to contributing when needed to the service, teaching, and scholarship areas.
Assists with maintaining and growing the Research program within the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences; makes recommendations to leadership on policies and processes to enhance the research capabilities of the College.
Serves as the head of the Office of Research and spearheads the development and tracking of a Mission Statement and Strategic Plan for the Department of Research.
- Prepares or oversees the preparation of grant applications to fund research efforts of the college; ensures appropriate approvals and communications regarding such applications.
- Fosters an environment of independent and collaborative scholarly endeavors within the College
- Assists faculty with grant processes that includes selection of funding opportunities, preparation of grants, and submission of proposals
- Advises faculty and students on institutional guidelines for conducting research within the SU COPHS
- Leadership of the College-wide intramural grant program
- Chairs the SU COPHS Research Committee
- Leads faculty development initiatives around scholarly pursuits
- Serves as a mentor for junior faculty who need assistance with scholarly endeavors
- Promotes the achievements of the College’s research on a local, national, and global level through recruitment efforts, sponsoring scientific conferences, symposiums, and / or workshops
- Represents the College’s research program within SUS
- Builds relationships with the research community external to SUS to promote the development of the research program
- Assists the Department Chairs and Dean with budget, human resources, and oversight of programmatic development to advance scholarly activities
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements of the position include :
- Faculty member at the level of Associate or Full Professor within the health professions
- Previous experience as a scientist / researcher required
- History of extramural funding preferred
