Deputy Processing Manager
In order to be considered for this position, the candidate must be serving permanently in the title of Transportation Specialist, or must be reachable on the open-competitive list, Exam #3027. The Automated Enforcement Unit (AEU) manages red light, bus lane, speed, and Weigh-in-Motion (WIM) enforcement for the Department of Transportation. As part of the Mayor's Vision Zero Initiative, the unit processes violations like red light running, speeding, overweight vehicles, and unauthorized bus lanes used citywide. Recent legislative changes will enable rapid program expansion, and the unit is seeking a Deputy Processing Manager to assist the Senior Processing Manager in managing the team that reviews events from automated enforcement cameras and processes valid cases into Notices of Liability (NOLs). The Deputy Processing Manager will directly supervise nine processing supervisors, ensuring that the supervisors and their Camera Technicians receive the training, guidance, and support needed to process events accurately and in accordance with standard operating procedures, related guidelines, and legislative mandates. Key responsibilities include working with supervisors on error identification and corrective measures, translating guidance from the Senior Processing Manager and interagency discussions into clear staff instructions to ensure the correct processing of Notice of Liability (NOLs). The Deputy will assist the Senior Processing Manager in coordination with other city agencies such as the Department of Finance (DOF) and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA). The candidate will also serve as a member of the AEU senior leadership team. Minimum Qualifications
1. A master's degree in transportation engineering, mathematics, urban planning, architecture, landscape architecture, urban studies, or related physical and social science fields; or 2. A baccalaureate degree in engineering from an accredited college and one year of full-time satisfactory experience performing technical work on roadway transportation and traffic studies and area-wide traffic programs; or 3. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of full-time satisfactory experience as described in "2" above; or 4. An associate degree or completion of 60 semester credits from an accredited college and four years of full-time satisfactory experience as described in "2" above; or 5. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and six years of full-time satisfactory experience as described in "2" above. SPECIAL NOTE : In addition to meeting the minimum Qualification Requirements above : To be assigned to Assignment Level II, the candidate must have an additional year of experience as described in the "Qualification Requirements" listed under "2" above. To be assigned to Assignment Level III, the candidate must have an additional two years of experience as described in the "Qualification Requirements" listed under "2" above.
