Summary

Under the direction of the Senior Marketing Manager, the Marketing Manager will work closely with practice group leaders, firm attorneys and other marketing team members to support all business development and marketing activities for the Intellectual Property and Technology practice on a national basis.

The primary goal is to drive revenue through new business opportunities and client expansion programs, including strategic business planning, pitches and proposals, events and sponsorships, sales pipeline management, key client initiatives, and business development coaching and training.

This position is responsible for working with attorneys in the practice to respond to marketing and business development requests in a manner consistent with the firm's overall strategy.

Location

This position can be remote. Candidates may be required to travel on occasion when / if needed to attend important, client-facing events.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, guidance and mentoring to attorneys and staff through effective communication ensuring a well-informed and highly motivated team effort.
  • Research strategic market opportunities and successfully lead the cross-selling of existing services, practice groups and offices as well as overseeing the initiation of substantial, new client opportunities for the firm.
  • Work with the marketing events team to execute and drive ROI for marketing events.
  • Manage business sponsorships and activities tied to the practice.
  • Track activities relevant to business development of the practice group.
  • Respond to all RFPs / RFIs and develop all other proposal / pitch materials in conjunction with Pursuits & Proposals team members and Senior Practice Marketing Team.
  • Provide sales support and otherwise assist attorneys in any way needed with target opportunities. Conduct business and market research;

conduct relationship searches and maintain attorney biographies.

  • Coordinate business development training sessions at the national level.
  • Advise attorneys on business development tactics and tools (e.g., CRM system).
  • Serve as point of contact for internal and external communications, including media relations.
  • Update sales pipeline information.
  • Support deal / case tracking efforts as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Desired Skills

Ideal candidate will be a customer service focused, personal, detail-oriented, and high energy professional with management-level experience, excellent communication skills and the ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced setting.

Strong client service orientation, project management, and the ability to generate immediate credibility with firm attorneys are essential.

Proficiency with MS Word / Excel / PowerPoint and the ability to work extended and / or weekend hours, as required.

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communication, Marketing, Journalism required.
  • An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered in lieu of degree requirement.

Minimum Years of Experience

6 years Marketing / business development support experience, preferably in the professional services industry.

Physical Demands

Sedentary work : Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and / or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

The firm’s expected hiring range for this position is $110,666 - $175,962 per year depending on the candidate’s geographic market location.

The compensation offered for employment will also be dependent on other factors including the candidate’s experience, skills, educational and professional background, and overall qualifications.
