As a Principal R&D Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the development and enhancement of new products designed to meet application, business, and customer needs.
You will be a key player in a cross-functional team focused on delivering a range of devices aimed at expanding the peripheral and vascular market segments.
Your leadership will be crucial in embedding our innovation principles into every product to advance healthcare, address unmet needs, improve patient outcomes, and ultimately save lives.
Key Responsibilities :
- Develop design solutions for complex interventional devices and accessories
- Progress from identifying clinical needs to creating device concepts and prototypes.
- Collaborate with physicians to translate their needs into product requirements and concepts.
- Utilize material and process knowledge to create effective designs.
- Work with core and extended team members across different locations to achieve project objectives.
- Oversee and manage the activities of technicians and engineers to ensure timely and accurate completion of project milestones.
- Create and implement verification and validation testing strategies and analyze designs for performance and reliability.
- Lead or work within a small team to advance projects from initial concept through to commercialization, focusing on product / process / engineering leadership and developing strategies to meet project goals.
- Design, develop, and validate new test methods, measurement techniques, and fixtures.
- Prepare comprehensive design specifications outlining performance and interface requirements for various components.
- Identify suitable processing technologies and establish reliable processes to deliver high-quality products within budget constraints.
- Actively participate in hands-on tasks, including assembling and troubleshooting design and assembly processes. Mentor junior engineers in problem-solving and assembling necessary deliverables.
- Review and approve document change requests related to design, materials, and process documentation, and create engineering documents, protocols, and performance reports.
- Generate invention disclosures to protect intellectual property related to therapies and devices.
- Effectively communicate technical information to management, customers, and team members, and create impactful prototype demonstrations to gather actionable feedback.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's in mechanical, biomedical, or a related engineering discipline
- 13+ years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 8+ years of experience.
- Deep understanding of Design Controls and the Product Development Process.
- Proven ability to manage and drive projects independently or with a small team.
- Experience designing minimally invasive interventional devices for neurovascular, vascular, coronary, urological, or peripheral applications.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks or other CAD software.
- Experience with methodologies such as DMAIC, LEAN, Six Sigma, Agile, and DFM.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with fluency in English.
- Hands-on experience with laboratory processing, testing equipment, and methods.
- Knowledge in areas such as thermoplastics, molding, welding, laser cutting, extrusion, catheter assembly technologies, mechanical design, and material properties.
