Position Description

The Department of Radiology at the University of Washington is recruiting for one full-time (100% FTE) faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor without tenure (WOT) by reason of funding, commensurate with experience, to join the Imaging Research Laboratory (IRL) with an anticipated, but flexible, start date of October 1, 2024.

Assistant Professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30).

Associate Professors WOT and full Professors WOT hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30).

Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

Faculty appointed WOT (without tenure due to funding) are in a non-tenure tract because all or part of their annual University-administered salary is derived from sources other than regularly appropriated state funds.

Except for this distinction, WOT faculty members have the same rights, responsibilities, and obligations as tenure track and tenured faculty members at those ranks.

The mission of the Imaging Research Laboratory is to focus interdisciplinary scientific expertise in human neuroimaging, cognitive neuroscience, and medicine across colleges and departments at the University of Washington.

Established in 1989, the Imaging Research Laboratory (IRL) is a multidisciplinary team committed to advancing medical imaging, which uses ionizing and non-ionizing radiation.

In collaboration with clinical, academic, and industrial partners, the IRL addresses all levels of this challenge through the following aims : to develop innovative instrumentation and methods, to construct analysis and evaluation tools, to serve as a training facility for new imaging scientists, and to translate developments to preclinical and clinical applications for improved healthcare.

The IRL is organized around a critical mass of interdisciplinary investigators, who are mutually invested in developing and maintaining shared technical resources, and who share a commitment to excellence and discovery in medical imaging.

Integration of multiple imaging modalities, imaging informatics, and technical innovation are of particular interest to IRL investigators.

The successful candidate will have access to IRL computer systems, network infrastructure, and local expertise for guidance on image processing and analysis.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the mission of IRL and to develop and maintain an independent funded research program.

Applications from MD and PhD (or foreign equivalent) scientists from basic or clinical science, imaging physics and / or engineering, computer science and informatics will be considered.

This position will also be expected to support teaching, research, and administrative missions in the Imaging Research Laboratory, the Department of Radiology, and the UW School of Medicine.

All faculty engage in teaching, research, and service.

The base salary range for this position will be : $8,334 - $14,584 per month ($100,008 - $175,008 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.

S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

Candidates should meet the following requirements :

• PhD or MD / PhD (or foreign equivalent)
• At least two years of postdoctoral training
• At least five years of relevant experience post terminal degree
