Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a motivated Cloud Engineer / Senior System Administrator to join our team of technical and business experts providing operational and mission support to a SI / SETA mission for a classified customer in Virginia.

The Cloud Engineer / Senior System Administrator will provide support across multiple information systems, which require timely patch management, updates, and assistance to the assessment and authorization process.

Implement and operate cloud computing infrastructure and implement security controls to maintain data safety.

Our unique team of technical and business disciplines provide operational support for Systems Engineering / Integration, Mission Planning, and Business Operations to multiple functional mission areas.

The team is responsible for technical design, operations, and mission planning and business operations for the full life cycle of customer specific operations (from concept through development and installation / Operation and Maintenance (O&M)).

The Cloud Engineer / Senior System Administrator will be responsible for the following but not limited to :

  • Responsible for installing & maintaining Linux Red Hat (CentOS) servers and workstations.
  • Responsible for installing & maintaining Windows servers and workstations per project requirements and NIST / Industrial Baseline Configuration guidelines.
  • Performs inventory, compliance, and vulnerability scans (e.g., Nmap, XCCDF, and Rapid7) of information systems.
  • Designs, deploys, manages, and operates AWS cloud environments to ensure reliability, security, and performance of Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure.
  • Installs web applications on the AWS platform.
  • Provides comprehensive documentation of AWS infrastructure, configurations, and operational procedures.
  • Participates in the Assessment and Authorization (A&A) process.
  • Ensures products and systems comply with requirements and government information assurance and cyber security standards and practices through formal verification methods.
  • Assesses performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance.
  • Responsible for keeping systems in line with security plans and recommending revisions to the plan, maintaining accounts and permissions, reviewing audit logs, addressing user concerns about system usability, and general maintenance of existing systems.
  • Responsible for communicating technical information to individuals who may not have a technical background. This will require good oral skills and patience.
  • Responsible for analysis of audit logs and application logs.
  • Responsible for collaboration with Information System Security Officer (ISSO) and Information System Security Manager (ISSM) Staff and other Cyber Security personnel to manage ongoing issues and accreditations.
  • Installs system patches and resolves issues found by compliance and vulnerability scans.
  • Implements robust security controls, including identity and access management, encryption, and compliance standards, to protect data and applications.
  • Maintains, manages, and upgrades software.
  • Troubleshoots issues, performs root cause analysis, and implements corrective / preventive measures.

This role requires the candidate to perform duties on-site Mon-Fri.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications :

  • Active TS / SCI with a current Polygraph.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, Computer Science, Cyber Security / Information Security, Electrical Engineering;
  • Information Systems, Network Engineering, or other STEM related field and 12 years of relevant experience; Master's degree and 10 years of relevant experience;

PhD and seven (7) years of relevant experience.

  • Working knowledge of Linux and Linux OS including installing & maintaining Linux Red Hat (CentOS) servers and workstations.
  • Proficient in developing and administering AWS cloud environments.
  • Previous experience in the Intelligence Community.
  • Must be a team player and possess the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team as well as work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proactive and forward-leaning.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly ramp up to support customer's needs, clearly communicate (orally and written) ideas, take initiative to provide creative solutions to challenges and / or systemic problems.

Target Salary Range

$146,000 - $234,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
