The Division of Infectious Diseasesprovides clinical care to patients with all types of infectious processes inboth the inpatient and outpatient settings.

Eighteen faculty members make upthe division. The primary areas of research include health careepidemiology, antimicrobial pharmacoepidemiology, transplant infectiousdiseases, and HIV clinical trials.

Chief Purpose of this position : This position is an hourly faculty position fora Hospital Epidemiologist / General Infectious Diseases Faulty member of MCVP.

The successful candidate should have completed Fellowship in InfectiousDiseases, and should have a demonstrated experience within hospitalepidemiology and / or antimicrobial stewardship.

This physician will beresponsible for physician duties as part of the Hospital Infection PreventionProgram (HIPP) as well as providing support to the overall Division ofInfectious Diseases as directed by the Division Chair.

Position Responsibilities :

Teaching Faculty member will have the opportunity for teaching in theareas of infectious diseases and epidemiology.

Service Faculty member will serve on departmental, School, and / orUniversity committees as necessary, as well as in a professional capacity intheir field (, reviewer, study section service, officer in a nationalsociety, etc.).

Clinical Faculty member will contribute to clinical mission of VCU Healthproviding comprehensive care to patients and working with interdisciplinaryteams to provide superior clinical care.

Faculty member will shareresponsibility for infectious diseases coverage of inpatient consult serviceand will provide outpatient care for infectious diseases patients.

Required Qualifications :

  • Board eligible / board certified (or equivalent or with experience in infectious diseases or a closely related discipline
  • Record of publication and conference dissemination demonstrating expertise in the faculty’s area of research
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU

Preferred Qualifications :

Program experience with Hospital Infection Prevention Programming or Infection Control
