Cerner EMR experience required* *Candidates must have prior experience as an infection preventionist in a hospital setting* Infection Preventionist Position Summary : Promotes a safe environment where risks for infection are identified and minimized for patients, employees, and visitors.
Administers surveillance programs and reports data. Analyzes data and develops interventions aimed at reduction of healthcare acquired infection in patients and employees.
Monitors and investigates known or suspected sources of infections in order to determine the source and ensure control. Reviewssterilization and disinfection techniques and recommends changes as needed.
Provides related education to staff. Prepares simple cultures as needed for environmental and individual studies. Prepares infection control risk assessments and develops management plans for identified risks.
Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. May lead and direct the work of others.
A wide degree of creativity and self-direction is expected. Education / Training : Post-secondary degree (e.g. associates' or baccalaureate degree) from an accredited academic facility.
Experience : Prefer at least 2 years of experience in the field or in a related area and familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures;
includes all of the following : a. Identification of infectious disease processes b. Surveillance and epidemiologic investigation c.
Preventing and controlling the transmission of infectious agents Special Skills, Licenses or Certifications : Must be a licensed Colorado RN.
Certified in infection prevention and control or willing to become certified within 6 months of hire or as soon as practical with approval from supervisor.
Basic computer knowledge. Typing / word processing / excel / email.
